Quantity Surveyor Full Time NEW

Hire Resolve’s client is urgently seeking the expertise of a Quantity Surveyor in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for engineering projects, including labor, materials, and overheads.
• Establish project budgets and track expenditure to ensure the project stays within financial limits.
• Assist with the procurement process, preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and recommending contractors.
• Review and manage engineering contracts, ensuring all terms and conditions are adhered to.
• Monitor project costs and report on financial performance, identifying any potential cost overruns.
• Measure and value engineering works, including site inspections and progress assessments.
• Provide cost advice on engineering materials, techniques, and methods to optimize project budgets.
• Prepare cost forecasts and financial reports to communicate project status to stakeholders.
• Manage financial risks related to engineering projects and suggest mitigation strategies.
• Certify payments to contractors based on work completed, ensuring accuracy.
• Negotiate contract terms and resolve any financial or contractual disputes.
• Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
• Prepare final accounts, including reconciliations of variations and changes to the original scope.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and financial management.
• Proficiency in cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control techniques.
• Experience with tendering, procurement, and contract management.
• Familiarity with engineering project practices, materials, and methods.
• Knowledge of construction laws, regulations, and safety standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Good communication and negotiation skills for working with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Ability to use relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, CostX, or similar).
• Strong problem-solving and risk management abilities.
• Understanding of project management principles and the ability to work within deadlines.
• Membership with a professional body (e.g., RICS or equivalent) may be required or preferred.
