Our client, a respected firm in the Insurance industry, is seeking a highly detail-oriented Junior Risk Officer to join their Risk Management Department in Rondebosch. This role is crucial for maintaining the operational integrity of the business by identifying, assessing, and reporting on risks.

This is a full-time, fully office-based position offering excellent benefits and a supportive environment for developing specialized risk management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Identification & Assessment

• Planning: Participate in preparing plans and strategies for the effective assessment and management of operational risks.

• Process Review: Review and assess inherent risks within new processes and systems; review existing processes and systems to identify risk exposures and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.

• Monitoring: Monitor developments in the environment to identify potential risk exposures.

Reporting & Incident Management

• Incident Recording: Record all incidents of risk reported from operational areas in a database.

• Reporting: Prepare periodic and ad hoc incident reports, analyzing causes and recommending appropriate control measures.

• Operational Reports: Prepare periodic and ad hoc operational risk reports as advised by the Manager.

Advisory & Training

• Technical Support: Provide technical support to the underwriting, claims, and reinsurance departments in the assessment and management of risks associated with the services they render.

• Training: Undertake sensitization and training of staff on operational risk control.

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualification: Minimum academic qualification in Actuarial Analyst, Business Administration, or Commerce.

• Knowledge: Good knowledge of the principles of risk management, the insurance industry, and the theory and practice of insurance.

• Skills: Hands-on skills in risk assessment, computer skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and good report writing skills.

• Attributes: High level of integrity and professionalism, commitment to accuracy and attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work under minimum supervision.

• Advantageous: Possession of a relevant Risk Management Certification or experience in risk management, audit, or underwriting.

Benefits & Conditions:

• Location: Fully Office Based, Rondebosch, Cape Town.

• Compensation: R30,000 CTC per month.
