IT Manager Full Time

A leading organisation within the telecommunications and ICT sector is seeking an experienced IT Manager to take ownership of the organisation’s IT environment, infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity and IT service delivery.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced IT professional who can manage both technical operations and strategic IT initiatives, with a key focus on the transition from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365.

The successful candidate will initially take ownership of the full IT function, with the opportunity to build and develop an IT team as the organisation grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the organisation’s overall IT strategy and roadmap.
• Take ownership of IT infrastructure, systems, networks, cloud environments and end-user support.
• Lead the transition from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365.
• Manage Microsoft 365, Azure and Entra ID environments.
• Ensure effective IT service delivery, support and operational continuity.
• Implement and maintain IT governance, policies, procedures and controls.
• Manage cybersecurity, access management, endpoint security and risk.
• Oversee backup, disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
• Manage enterprise applications and systems, including ServiceNow and Sage 300.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including POPIA, and applicable IT governance standards.
• Manage IT vendors, service providers and technology partners.
• Monitor system performance, availability, security and capacity.
• Develop and maintain IT documentation, processes and technical standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve technology, efficiency and automation.
• Provide technical guidance and support to employees and management.
• Build, manage and develop the IT team as the function expands.
• Manage IT budgets, projects and technology-related expenditure.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
• 5–10 years’ experience in IT, preferably within telecommunications, connectivity, ICT or a similar technical environment.
• Proven experience in an IT Manager, Head of IT, IT Operations or senior infrastructure role.
• Strong experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Proven experience with Microsoft 365 implementation and administration.
• Strong knowledge of Azure and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience with cybersecurity, IT governance and risk management.
• Experience managing IT service delivery and technical support functions.
• Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing or mentoring technical teams.
