Job Title: Underwriter – Commercial/Motor

Job Summary:
Hire Resolve is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Underwriter to join our client’s team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and evaluating risks associated with commercial and motor insurance policies, and making sound underwriting decisions to ensure profitability and retention of business.
Key Responsibilities:
– Underwrite commercial and motor insurance policies according to company guidelines and standards
– Assess and analyze applications for insurance coverage, evaluating potential risks and determining appropriate premium rates
– Review and evaluate policy documents, endorsements, and other related documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with underwriting guidelines
– Communicate with brokers, agents, and clients to gather additional information, clarify policy terms, and provide underwriting decisions
– Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner
– Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and developments to ensure compliance and competitiveness in the market
– Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to identify new business opportunities and assist in developing products and services to meet customer needs
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or related field
– Minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience in the commercial and motor insurance industry
– Knowledge of insurance principles, policies, and procedures
– Strong analytical and decision-making skills
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
– Proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office
