Overview

A giant in the Retail Industry is looking for a Highly Experienced Tax Manager to join their team at their offices in Cape Town.

The Key Responsibilities:

Tax Policy, Compliance, Process and Systems management

  • Create and develop tax regulations and policies for the Organization.
  • Revise and modify policies to reflect tax revisions.
  • As necessary, update all pertinent tax and financial systems (like SAP)
  • Assess any potential tax-related risks and exposure that could have an impact on the Group and inform all pertinent stakeholders.
  • Handle all outside parties’ interests in all Group-related tax-related matters.
  • Control all tax reporting for the Group.
  • Ensure that audit queries are handled and resolved effectively.
  • Identifies tax risks and problems and suggests fixes.

Support Treasury activities

  • Administer all tax requirements/returns for cash payments.
  • Perform the intercompany Loans and Deposits process to ensure tax compliance.

Stakeholder Relationships

  • Maintain relationships with the Finance Shared Services, Finance CoEs, and Business Finance.
  • Verify that the group is engaging with the appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
  • Arrange for the outsourcing of tax preparation work.

Leadership

  • Manage the hiring, retention, and professional development of direct reports’ talent.
  • Manage the training and development of all shared service personnel.
  • Ensure that shared service performance management guidelines are followed, giving direct reporting ongoing performance feedback and development opportunities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified CA(SA)
  • A Post Graduate Qualification in Tax
  • Minimum 5 Years experience in leading a Tax team.
  • A background in Consultancy – Specializing in VAT
  • Proven experience in advisory and compliance across direct tax, indirect tax, international tax, and transfer pricing.
  • Strong Analytical Skills and a High Attention to detail
  • Excellent Interpersonal & Communication Skills
