Senior Procurement Manager: Food & Packaging – Food Retail Industry Full Time

Hire Resolve’s client is seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Manager to oversee the procurement of food and packaging materials for their Food Retail businesses in Gauteng. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food procurement, supply chain management, and negotiation skills. They will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of high-quality products.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the needs of the Food Retail business.
• Source and procure food and packaging products to meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to achieve favorable terms and pricing.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and oversee the performance of vendors to ensure consistency and quality.
• Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Oversee the procurement team and provide leadership and guidance to ensure departmental goals are met.
• Analyze procurement data and create reports to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, and marketing teams, to ensure procurement goals align with business objectives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• Min 8 to 10 years of SCM related experience with a minimum of 3 years at a senior management level with responsibility for direct reports
• Experience in strategic sourcing and strategic category management, including understanding technical product complexities, supplier or product cost drivers, and other factors that influence pricing
• Experience in managing food and packaging categories
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement software systems.
• Knowledge of industry trends and regulations in the food retail sector.
• Proven track record of delivering cost savings and process improvements through strategic procurement initiatives.
