Diesel Mechanic – Wellington, WC Full Time NEW

A reputable construction firm specializing in heavy machinery and infrastructure projects, is currently seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join their dynamic team based in Wellington. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, hands-on experience, and a passion for working with heavy-duty and agricultural equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and diagnostics on diesel-powered machinery

• Perform fault finding and troubleshooting on heavy construction, mining, and farming equipment

• Execute preventative maintenance schedules to ensure machinery operates at peak efficiency

• Repair and overhaul diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and drive trains

• Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety standards

• Support project teams with on-site mechanical assistance when required

Requirements

• Red Seal Certification in Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic (EEM) or Diesel Mechanic Diploma

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in construction or agricultural sectors

• Proficient in diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults

• Hands-on experience with mining, heavy machinery, and farming equipment

• Strong understanding of preventative maintenance procedures

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
