Position Overview:
Hire Resolve’s client is seeking a highly skilled and analytical Credit Portfolio Analyst to join their Investment firm in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing credit risk, managing credit portfolios, and providing insightful analysis to support investment decision-making. The individual should possess strong financial acumen, exceptional attention to detail, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
– Conduct comprehensive analysis of credit portfolios to assess risk, monitor trends, and identify opportunities for improvement
– Evaluate creditworthiness of potential and existing clients through diligent research and financial analysis
– Monitor market and industry trends to proactively identify emerging risks and opportunities within the credit portfolio
– Collaborate with the Investment team to develop credit strategies and optimize risk-adjusted returns
– Provide regular reports and updates on portfolio performance, credit quality, and key risk indicators to senior management
– Monitor compliance with internal credit policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
– Contribute to the development and enhancement of credit and risk management models and frameworks
– Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to assess portfolio resilience to potential economic downturns
– Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including Relationship Managers, Credit Risk Managers, and senior executives
– Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and regulations related to credit portfolio management
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
– Minimum 4-12 years of experience in credit analysis/credit risk and credit proposals write up covering SME and/or Mid Cap clients in Commercial Banking
– Strong understanding of credit risk modeling, financial analysis, and risk management principles
– Extensive knowledge of credit instruments, including bonds, equities, derivatives, and alternative investments
– Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify key insights
– Proficient in using financial software and tools
– Familiarity with credit rating agencies’ methodologies and credit analysis frameworks
– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to stakeholders
– Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and strong problem-solving skills
– Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a deadline-driven environment
– Professional certifications will be considered advantageous
