Concrete Technologist Full Time

A leading ready-mix concrete and construction materials company is seeking an experienced Concrete Technologist to take ownership of concrete mix design, quality assurance, materials compliance, and technical support functions across operations.

The successful candidate will act as the technical authority for concrete-related processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and driving product quality and performance.

 Requirements

• National Diploma (NDip) or BTech in Civil Engineering, or BSc/BEng in Civil or Materials Engineering
• Minimum 10+ years’ post-qualification experience in concrete technology, materials engineering, or quality assurance
• Strong experience in concrete mix design and direct technical responsibility
• ECSA registration (Candidate or Professional Technologist) preferred or in progress
• In-depth knowledge of SANS standards (including SANS 10100, SANS 5861, SANS 1083, SANS 50197)
• Experience in laboratory testing and concrete performance analysis
• Experience in forensic investigation and failure analysis advantageous
• Valid Code B driver’s licence and willingness to travel

 Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise concrete mix designs for various applications
• Oversee quality control and laboratory testing processes
• Approve raw materials and manage approved materials register
• Investigate concrete failures, defects, and non-conformance issues
• Provide technical support to production, site, and client teams
• Ensure compliance with SANS and industry quality standards
• Conduct audits, reporting, and technical documentation
• Support continuous improvement in concrete performance and durability
• Mentor junior technical staff and QC personnel
