Buyer & Designer Full Time

A leading fashion accessories import and distribution company is looking for an experienced Buyer & Designer with strong experience in fashion buying, product development, trend analysis, and graphic design to join their team in Sandton. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and developing trend-driven product ranges, creating product and packaging designs, managing supplier relationships, and bringing commercially successful fashion concepts to market.

Responsibilities:

• Source and develop trend-driven fashion accessories, gift items, and beauty products.
• Build commercially successful product ranges for different retail markets.
• Manage supplier relationships, including pricing negotiations, MOQs, and order timelines.
• Monitor product performance and implement repeat order or markdown strategies.
• Create accurate product CADs and mock-ups using Adobe Illustrator.
• Design packaging artwork, including hang tags, header cards, and blister packs.
• Assist with the creation of marketing materials, catalogues, and lookbooks.
• Maintain consistent branding across product categories.
• Research local and international fashion trends and competitor activity.
• Develop mood boards, colour palettes, and range presentations.
• Present product concepts and range proposals to management.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in retail buying or fashion product development.
• Intermediate graphic design experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• Strong commercial understanding of fashion trends within a mass retail environment.
• Experience working with overseas suppliers and managing import timelines and costing.
• Excellent planning, presentation, and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel for budgeting, costing, and order tracking.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Creative, analytical, and commercially minded approach.
• Able to adapt quickly to changing market trends and business requirements.
