Job Title: Structural Engineer

Location: Durban, South Africa

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our client’s civil construction team in Durban. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field and possess advanced technical knowledge in structural engineering principles and practices. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing construction projects, ensuring that structures are safe, stable, and compliant with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Designing and analysing structural components and systems for construction projects
• Creating detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations
• Conducting site visits and inspections to assess structural conditions and provide recommendations for improvements
• Collaborating with architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure project goals are met within budget and timeline constraints
• Monitoring construction progress and quality control to ensure compliance with design specifications
• Reviewing and approving construction documents, reports, and plans
• Mentoring junior engineers and providing guidance on technical issues

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably in the civil construction industry
• Professional Engineer registration is beneficial
• Advanced knowledge of structural analysis software and design tools
• Solid understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards
• Experience with water-retaining concrete structures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s licence
