Structural Engineer (Pr. Eng.) Full Time

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join our client’s team in Cape Town.  As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analysing, and evaluating structures to ensure their safety, reliability, and quality. You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and other professionals to develop cost-effective and efficient solutions for various projects. 

Responsibilities:

• Design and analyse structures to ensure they are safe, reliable, and compliant with relevant codes and regulations.
• Create detailed structural drawings and specifications using CAD software.
• Perform calculations and simulations to assess structural stability and integrity.
• Ensure compliance with relevant building codes and regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and construction teams.
• Attend site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and provide technical guidance.
• Prepare reports and documentation for project files.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) certification or working towards certification.
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards.
• The successful candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in the design and detailing of structures.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software; Sofistik FEM preferred.
• Proficiency in Revit and other design software/draughting packages.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Experience working on a variety of projects, such as residential, commercial, and industrial.
• Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques.
• Experience in managing a design team.
