Software Engineer (Upper Mid-Level / Senior) Full Time

A South African technology partner and software solutions provider that helps medium and large organizations automate business tasks and drive digital transformation is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our development team to drive the modernization and expansion of an established enterprise SaaS platform – Remote

Responsibilities:

• Development & Delivery: Design, build, and maintain secure backend services and web applications using modern .NET (C#) and REST APIs.

• Feature Ownership: Drive features end-to-end—from technical design and estimation through development, testing, and production release.

• Architecture & Data: Work with relational databases, optimize performance-sensitive queries, and contribute to system architecture and code reviews.

• Quality & Security: Write clean, testable code, resolve production defects, and embed secure development practices across the software lifecycle.

• Team & Process: Support and mentor junior developers, maintain technical documentation, and proactively identify technical risks or dependencies.

• AI Integration: Leverage AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate delivery, testing, documentation, and technical analysis.

Minimum Requirements:

• Experience: 5+ years of commercial software development experience with strong, recent expertise in C# and modern .NET.

• Track Record: Proven ability to ship meaningful features to production within a structured engineering team.

• Education: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience with a strong delivery track record).

• Core Technical Skills

  • Backend: C#, modern .NET, ASP.NET Core, RESTful API design, EF Core (or similar ORM).

  • Database: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or another enterprise relational database (including query optimization).

  • Frontend & Web: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript.

  • DevOps & Tools: Git, Docker/containers, CI/CD automated build/deployment pipelines, and cloud hosting.

  • Engineering Principles: OOP, SOLID principles, Dependency Injection, unit/integration testing, and secure application design (OWASP, RBAC, authentication).

• Advantageous Skills

  • Cloud Platforms: AWS or Azure.

  • Modern Frontend: React, Next.js, or similar frameworks.

  • SaaS Architecture: Multi-tenant systems, high-volume/asynchronous workloads, and workflow-driven engines.

  • Integrations: SSO/IdP integrations, third-party APIs, reporting/analytics.

  • AI: Experience building AI-enabled product features or utilizing modern AI-assisted coding tools.
