Site Reliability Engineer Full Time

A fintech company committed to making life simpler and more secure for African communities through innovative financial and technology solutions seeking a proactive and skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to be the guardian of their systems’ uptime, performance, and scalability. This is a unique opportunity to build the foundation of infrastructure excellence for a rapidly growing fintech venture in South Africa

Responsibilities: 

• Managing and monitoring infrastructure for ERP systems, applications, APIs, and databases.

• Ensuring high availability and scalability of production environments.

• Administering cloud environments and establishing CI/CD workflows for rapid deployments.

• Setting up monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to track system health.

• Implementing backup, recovery, and failover processes to ensure data integrity.

• Hardening infrastructure security and enforcing access controls.

• Diagnosing and resolving incidents efficiently with minimal downtime.

Minimum Requirements:

• A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a System Administration, DevOps, or SRE role.

• Strong experience with Linux-based production environments (preferably Ubuntu) and cloud hosting platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.

• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Bash, Python, or similar languages.

• Experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD tools.

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or Ansible.

• Experience with database administration (PostgreSQL), networking, DNS, and load balancing.

• Knowledge of web security best practices, including firewalls, SSL, and API rate limiting.

• Strong experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus).

• Experience with fast recovery planning and disaster mitigation.

• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
