SANRAL-certified Bridge Engineer Full Time

We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially minded SANRAL-certified Bridge Engineer to take a senior technical leadership role within a multidisciplinary consulting engineering environment. The successful candidate will lead bridge design, inspections, rehabilitation projects, and support strategic growth through client engagement and business development initiatives.

This role is suited to an individual who is not only technically strong but also interested in long-term leadership and potential equity participation within the business.

 Requirements

• BEng / BSc Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• Professional Engineer registration (Pr Eng preferred)
• SANRAL accreditation or proven experience with SANRAL bridge projects
• Strong structural and bridge engineering background
• Extensive experience in bridge engineering design and delivery
• Exposure to SANRAL projects and national infrastructure programmes
• Experience in:

• Bridge design (road, rail, pedestrian)
• Culverts and retaining structures
• Bridge inspections and rehabilitation
• Infrastructure upgrades and strengthening works

• Strong understanding of South African bridge design codes and standards
• Proven ability to manage technical teams and deliver complex projects
• Client-facing and business development experience advantageous

Key Responsibilities

Bridge Design & Engineering

• Lead and review design of road, rail, and pedestrian bridges
• Develop solutions for culverts, retaining structures, and infrastructure upgrades
• Ensure compliance with SANRAL and national design standards

Inspections & Rehabilitation

• Conduct bridge inspections, assessments, and condition reporting
• Oversee rehabilitation, strengthening, and upgrading of existing structures
• Perform SANRAL-compliant visual inspections and reporting

Project Delivery

• Manage technical delivery across multiple infrastructure projects
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders
• Ensure quality, safety, and compliance across all deliverables

Business Development

• Support client engagement and relationship management
• Contribute to securing new infrastructure and bridge engineering work
• Assist in proposal development and technical submissions

Leadership & Strategy

• Provide technical leadership within the bridge engineering division
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
• Contribute to long-term business growth
