Quantity Surveyor Full Time

A multi-disciplinary infrastructure consulting company in Cape Town is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team! To fulfil the role of Professional Quantity Surveyor, the candidate must manage project activities to deliver specified scope within a fee budget, to an acceptable quality and on time.

Requirements: 

• BSc Quantity Surveying/BSc Quantity Surveying (Honours)
• Professionally Registered with the SACQSP
• Knowledge of construction contracts (JBCC, FIDIC, NEC, GCC)
• WinQS proficient
• DimensionX proficient
• MS Office literacy

Responsibilities:

• Managing costs on a wide variety of new and existing building projects and structures, such as residential developments, sports stadiums, roads and bridges, schools, hospitals, offices, factories and commercial properties.
• Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
• Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
• Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.
• Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
• Performing risk and value management, cost control and value engineering.
• Advising on procurement strategy, contract documentation and financial control.
• Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, returnable schedules and Preliminaries & General.
• Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
• Preparing and analysing costing for tenders, tender evaluation, tender adjudication and appointment of contractors and/or sub-contractors.
• Allocating work to subcontractors.
• Providing advice on contractual claims, variation orders, site instructions, escalation and final accounts.
• Analysing outcomes and writing detailed inception-,progress-, preliminary design-, final design reports. •Valuing completed work and arranging payments.
• Assisting the Bids Department with write-ups to be used for tender purposes for future QS work.
• Calculation of escalation, penalties, monthly payment certificates and the reconciliation of the final account and close-out report.
• Preparation of monthly cost reports / financial reports on projects.
• Measurement of rentable areas.
• Cash-flows.
• Targeted procurement including training and monitoring.
