PostgreSQL Database Administrator Full Time

Are you a meticulous and experienced PostgreSQL expert with a passion for performance, security, and data integrity? A forward-thinking technology firm is seeking a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join their growing team and help scale, maintain, and optimize mission-critical databases that support enterprise-grade applications.

• Manage, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL environments (community and enterprise editions).

• Design and optimize database architecture, replication, HA, and backup solutions.

• Troubleshoot performance issues and conduct tuning and root cause analysis across large-scale environments.

• Lead Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration projects and ensure compatibility across platforms.

• Collaborate with DevOps, development, and infrastructure teams for seamless database integration.

• Enforce security policies, access controls, and best practices.

• Provide Tier 1 to Tier 3 support to internal teams and external clients.

• Create documentation, build knowledge bases, and mentor junior DBAs.

• Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support when needed.

• Support technical pre-sales and client solution architecture as required.

:

• 5–8 years of hands-on DBA experience, with a minimum of 3 years focused specifically on PostgreSQL.

• In-depth experience with enterprise-grade PostgreSQL platforms and tools.

• Strong advantage: Background in Oracle Database administration or migrations.

• Proven expertise in:

  • Performance tuning and optimization.

  • Backup and recovery strategies.

  • Replication (streaming and logical).

• Proficient in Linux command-line operations and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python).

• Experience with PostgreSQL monitoring and diagnostic tools such as pg_stat_statements, Prometheus, pgBadger, etc.

• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and take initiative in high-pressure environments.
