Junior Metallurgist (12-Month FTC) Contract

Description:
Hire Resolve’s Client is currently looking for a Junior Metallurgist to join their mining company based in Gauteng. You will be responsible for conducting metallurgical analyses, supporting laboratory operations, performing metallurgical test work and technical investigations, and maintaining laboratory quality and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine metallurgical analyses on various samples in accordance with operational requirements.
• Support the day-to-day operation of the Physical Metallurgical Laboratory.
• Monitor laboratory consumables and maintain stock levels.
• Obtain supplier quotations when required.
• Perform daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly physical stock counts of precious metals and other valuable materials.
• Plan, conduct and report on metallurgical test work and technical investigations.
• Monitor and report on project progress in a timely manner.
• Research and evaluate new technologies to improve laboratory performance and manufacturing processes.
• Produce technical reports, scopes of work, standard operating procedures and laboratory manuals.
• Maintain document management processes and records within the laboratory.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and laboratory quality requirements.
• Monitor equipment performance and ensure equipment operates according to specification.

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• National Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering
• Minimum 2 years’ relevant metallurgical laboratory experience
• Experience conducting metallurgical analyses and laboratory testing, including hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy and physical metallurgy.
• Experience in handheld XRF, SEM-EDS, XRD and hardness testing, including data interpretation and technical reporting.
• Experience in pyrometallurgical charge make-up, testing and data analysis.
• Experience working in an environment involving precious metals, refining, fabrication or related manufacturing processes.
