Industrial Sewing Machine Technician NEW

A leading industrial machinery and textile solutions company is looking for an experienced Technician with strong experience in industrial sewing machine installation, maintenance, and repair to join their team in Johannesburg. This field-based role involves supporting a wide range of manufacturing clients, ensuring optimal machine performance, minimizing downtime, and delivering high-quality technical support across production environments.

Responsibilities:

• Install, service, and repair industrial sewing machines at client sites
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and operational faults
• Set up and calibrate machines according to production requirements
• Ensure stitch quality, consistency, and machine efficiency
• Provide on-site technical support and operator training
• Advise clients on machine optimisation and best practices
• Maintain service records and compile job reports
• Assist with spare parts identification and ordering

Requirements:

• Proven experience as an industrial sewing machine technician (non-negotiable)
• Hands-on experience with lockstitch and overlock/serger machines
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
• Experience with machine setup, calibration, and timing adjustments
• Background in clothing, textile, footwear, or upholstery manufacturing environments (preferred)
• Ability to work independently in a field-based role
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills for client interaction
