Health & Safety Officer Full Time

A leading metal fabrication and manufacturing company is looking for experienced Health & Safety Officers with strong experience in manufacturing and metal fabrication environments to join their teams in Strand and Atlantis. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations across multiple operational sites, maintaining safe working practices, conducting inspections, and supporting overall SHEQ initiatives within a fast-paced industrial environment. Candidates must be fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English, with the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend Afrikaans fluently.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and company safety standards
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and compile detailed reports
• Implement and maintain health and safety procedures and documentation
• Facilitate toolbox talks and safety training sessions
• Monitor contractor and employee compliance with safety procedures
• Ensure PPE compliance and safe work practices across operational sites
• Assist with maintaining SHEQ systems and records
• Travel between sites as required

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer within a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment is essential
• Candidates without metal fabrication or manufacturing industry experience will not be considered
• Relevant Health & Safety qualification/certification
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and compliance requirements
• Afrikaans fluency is essential — candidates must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend Afrikaans
• Own reliable transport and willingness to travel to sites
• Strong administrative, reporting, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple site responsibilities
