Head Chef Full Time

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Head Chef & Restaurant Operations Manager to lead the launch and ongoing operation of a premium Italian-inspired restaurant.

This role is ideal for a passionate culinary professional with extensive experience in authentic Italian cuisine, restaurant start-ups, and hospitality management. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the restaurant, including kitchen operations, menu development, financial performance, staffing, supplier management, artisan pasta and gelato production, as well as weddings, events, and catering operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the establishment and successful launch of a new restaurant.
• Oversee all kitchen and restaurant operations.
• Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Design seasonal Italian-inspired menus using premium local ingredients.
• Manage fresh handmade pasta and artisan gelato production.
• Oversee wedding, private event, and corporate catering operations.
• Prepare food costings, quotations, budgets, and profitability reports.
• Control food costs, labour costs, purchasing, and stock management.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and manage kitchen staff.
• Ensure exceptional food quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, HACCP, and Occupational Health & Safety standards.
• Work closely with front-of-house management to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Develop innovative dining experiences, promotions, and hospitality events to grow revenue.
• Produce monthly operational and financial reports.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 8 years’ experience in professional kitchens.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef.
• Extensive experience preparing authentic Italian cuisine.
• Expert knowledge of fresh pasta production using commercial pasta-making equipment.
• Experience producing artisan gelato using commercial gelato machinery.
• Proven experience opening or launching a restaurant.
• Strong financial understanding of restaurant operations, including budgeting, food costing, and profit analysis.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and purchasing.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Valid driver’s licence.
