A fast-growing and well-established player in the construction and plant hire industry is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Junior Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) to join their core finance team in Cape Town. This role is perfect for a recently qualified professional looking to transition into a hands-on, high-impact Financial Management position with clear growth potential.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the financial health of the business, focusing heavily on project costing, financial reporting, and compliance within a fast-paced environment.
Financial Reporting: Assist with the end-to-end preparation of monthly management accounts and comprehensive financial reports.
Cost & Profitability Tracking: Closely monitor project costing, job cards, and track profitability per individual project.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
Treasury & Reconciliation: Perform complex reconciliations (bank, supplier, customer, inter-company) and manage the full Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to IFRS, company policies, and statutory requirements, including SARS (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax).
Asset Management: Maintain the fixed asset register and oversee accurate depreciation calculations.
Audit & Cash Flow: Support internal and external audits and assist in preparing cash flow projections.
Operational Collaboration: Work closely with site managers and quantity surveyors to ensure financial accuracy and control across all construction projects.
Internal Control: Implement, maintain, and continuously improve internal financial controls and company policies.
Qualification: Must be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)), registered with SAICA.
Experience: Recently qualified (CA(SA) fresh out of articles) or up to 2 years of relevant post-articles experience.
Industry: Exposure to or a strong interest in the construction, engineering, or plant hire sector is highly advantageous.
Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax).
Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, strong time management, and excellent communication abilities for collaborating across different departments.
