A well-established construction company is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Financial Manager to lead and oversee its financial operations in Harare, Zimbabwe.The Financial Manager will provide strategic and operational financial leadership, ensuring strong financial governance, reporting accuracy, compliance, and commercial support across regional projects and business units.
Working closely with Regional Leadership and Project Teams, the successful candidate will oversee end-to-end financial management, including budgeting, reporting, controls, compliance, and performance analysis. The role requires approximately 75% onsite presence in Zimbabwe, with engagement across both Zimbabwe and South Africa where required.
Responsibilities
Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for Harare operations
Manage monthly management accounts and reporting packs
Oversee project financial performance, cost controls, and margin optimisation
Ensure statutory, tax, and regulatory compliance in Zimbabwe and relevant jurisdictions
Monitor working capital, cash flow, and funding requirements
Implement and maintain strong financial controls and governance practices
Support commercial decision-making through financial analysis and insights
Partner with operational leaders to drive efficiencies and profitability
Coordinate internal and external audits
Drive continuous improvement of finance processes and systems
Requirements
BCom Accounting degree (essential) with a professional designation preferred: CA(SA), SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA, CGMA or equivalent
Minimum 7 years’ experience in a Financial Manager or similar senior finance role
Experience within construction, engineering, mining, or other project-based environments (strong advantage)
Proven experience managing multi-site or cross-border operations
Strong financial reporting and compliance experience across multiple jurisdictions
Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
Experience with project accounting, job costing, WIP management, and contract financial controls
Knowledge of tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements across African markets
Strong governance, risk management, and internal control capabilities
Ability to analyse financial performance and provide commercial insights to operational leaders
Experience managing audits and liaising with external auditors and regulators
Ability to work independently in site-based environments and manage multiple priorities
Advanced proficiency in ERP/financial systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, or similar)
