External Sales Consultant Full Time

We are seeking an experienced External Sales Consultant to join a leading organisation within the ready-mix concrete and construction industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for growing sales volumes, developing and maintaining customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities and ensuring a professional customer experience throughout the sales and ordering process.

Key Responsibilities

• Achieve monthly concrete sales volume and value targets.
• Develop, maintain and grow a strong customer portfolio.
• Identify new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with clients.
• Promote products and provide accurate pricing to customers.
• Prepare accurate sales quotations.
• Price tenders in collaboration with the technical team where required.
• Follow up on quotations, tenders and potential business opportunities.
• Monitor competitor activity and provide relevant market intelligence.
• Liaise with plant managers, internal sales teams and technical departments.
• Address and resolve customer queries and problems promptly.
• Assist with sales forecasting, budgeting and sales action plans.
• Ensure correct pricing and zone allocations.
• Maintain accurate sales administration and records.
• Ensure a professional and seamless customer experience from initial enquiry through to order and dispatch.

Requirements

• Minimum Grade 12 / Matric.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales and client liaison, preferably at a senior level.
• Strong external sales and business development experience.
• Experience managing and growing a customer portfolio.
• Strong quotation, tender and pricing experience.
• Excellent negotiation and closing skills.
• Strong customer relationship management skills.
• Ability to work independently and achieve sales targets.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook.
• Knowledge of concrete and construction products will be advantageous.
• Experience within the construction, ready-mix concrete, building materials or related industry will be advantageous.
• A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the assigned territory.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric – Essential
• Relevant tertiary qualification – Advantageous
• Concrete Technology qualification – Advantageous
