Data Engineer Full Time

A multinational company that manufactures specialty coatings, sealants, and building materials is seeking a  Data Engineer to support the evolution of their data infrastructure into an Azure Data Lakehouse and Databricks environment while maintaining existing SQL Data Warehouse solutions – Johannesburg, Cape Town, or Durban.

Responsibilities:

• Pipeline Development & Modernization: Build and maintain Azure-based ELT pipelines using Databricks; support legacy SQL Data Warehouse systems under senior guidance.

• Architecture & Modeling: Assist in integrating structured and semi-structured data into an Azure Data Lakehouse to support business analytics and reporting.

• Security & Governance: Partner with IAM Specialists and Data Governance Officers to implement RBAC policies, access controls, data quality standards, and regulatory compliance.

• DevOps & Automation: Help implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation for data workflows.

• Continuous Improvement: Apply best practices for cloud data processing, storage, and retrieval while keeping up with Azure advancements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Experience: 3+ years in data engineering, cloud data solutions, or a closely related role.

• Database & SQL: Solid foundation in SQL and relational database concepts.

• Cloud Platforms: Hands-on exposure to cloud data architectures (Azure strongly preferred; AWS or GCP considered).

• Data Integration: Familiarity with ELT workflows, data transformation, and data modeling.

• Programming: Proficiency in Python (or a similar scripting language) is a strong plus.
