Civil Engineering Draughtsperson Full Time

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Engineering Draughtsman to join our client’s team in Umhlanga. The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineers to produce accurate technical drawings and plans, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards. This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and other design software, strong attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to understand project requirements and specifications.
• Create accurate technical drawings and plans using AutoCAD and other relevant software.
• Prepare detailed designs, layouts, quantities, and calculations for civil engineering projects.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Review and interpret engineering designs, sketches, and redlines to produce accurate drawings.
• Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with the design team and other departments to ensure project deadlines are met.
• Conduct quality control checks on drawings to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and emerging technologies.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in AutoCAD and related software.

Requirements

• Completed National Diploma.
• 5-10 years of experience in a similar position within a Consulting Engineering firm (preferred).
• Proven experience as a Civil Engineering Draughtsman or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, techniques, and practices.
• Membership in the South African Institute of Draughting is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Civil Designer or Civil 3D software is advantageous.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other Autodesk software packages.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with project leads.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities to meet project deadlines.
