Senior Geotechnical Engineer Full Time

This role is pivotal in providing specialized geotechnical engineering expertise across diverse projects, from inception to fruition. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver top-notch solutions aligned with client objectives and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough geotechnical investigations, site assessments, and feasibility studies to evaluate ground conditions and offer tailored recommendations for engineering ventures.
• Prepare meticulous geotechnical reports encompassing insightful interpretations of site investigations, comprehensive analysis of geotechnical data, and well-founded design proposals.
• Execute geotechnical analyses utilizing cutting-edge software and methodologies, including but not limited to slope stability analysis, foundation design, and numerical modeling.
• Provide adept technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical personnel, fostering professional growth within the team.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure strict adherence to project requirements and pertinent regulations.
• Actively engage in project meetings, site visits, and inspections as deemed necessary to uphold project integrity.
• Contribute to the firm’s business development initiatives, including but not limited to proposal formulation, client presentations, and networking endeavors.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and advancements in geotechnical engineering, integrating relevant knowledge into project deliverables.

Requirements:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BEng) in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
• Possess Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or eligibility to obtain such registration.
• Bring to the table a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in geotechnical engineering, with a specific focus on the Transport sector.
• Demonstrate a solid grasp of soil and rock mechanics, underpinning the foundation of successful geotechnical projects.
• Showcase expertise in designing foundations for various structures, slope stabilization techniques, ground improvement methodologies, and earthworks and retention structure design.
• Proficiency in foundation and pile design, settlement analysis, earth pressure calculations, slope stability assessments, and bearing capacity evaluations is highly advantageous.
• Exhibit proficiency in geotechnical analysis and design software to effectively execute project requirements.
• Possess exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written, coupled with strong collaborative abilities to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
